Missing image DSCN4355_oldfortniagaraactors_e.jpg Historical recreation actors at Old Fort Niagara Fort Niagara is a 300 year old fortification site located near Youngstown, New York on the eastern bank of the Niagara River at its mouth on Lake Ontario. It was constructed during the French regime to protect the interests of New France. The fort played a significant part in the French and Indian War, the American War of Independence and the War of 1812. It has been renovated and now serves as a museum called Old Fort Niagara. The restored fort is the scene of frequent historical recreations of 18th century battles that took place on the site. During WWII it was a training base for soldiers. See alsoExternal links
