Fourth World - Definition and Overview

Fourth World is a term which is used to denote several completely different things.

• "Fourth World country" is a term used by industrialized countries to denote developing countries with almost no industrial infrastructure.
• Fourth World is used to refer to ethnic and minority groups who are not represented by a nation-state; see Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organisation.
• In the mythology of the Hopi, the current world is the Fourth World, and the coming age is the Fifth World.
• The Fourth World is a mythology-themed superhero comic book series created by Jack Kirby in the early 1970s; see Jack Kirby's Fourth World.
• The Fourth World is the debut album for Kara's Flowers; see The Fourth World (album).
