Franco Frattini (born March 14 1957 in Rome) is the Italian member of the European Commission.
Previously he's been a member of the government of Silvio Berlusconi since 2001, and foreign minister of Italy since November 14, 2002.
On November 4, 2004 he was nominated to take up the Justice portfolio in the Commission, in place of the controversial Rocco Buttiglione and has resigned from the Italian Government effective November 18. Deputy Prime Minister Gianfranco Fini has taken his place as Foreign Minister.
