Freedom Fighters is the name of a minor DC Comics comic book superhero team made up of characters acquired from the defunct company, Quality Comics.
The members include:
(In the first issue, we were told an earlier Freedom Fighters team had been killed. This comprised the Invisible Hood, Magno, Miss America, Neon the Unknown, and the Red Torpedo. This was subsequently retconned away, and Miss America, at least, has been shown as part of the main team.)
The DC version of the characters were said to reside on Earth-X, where World War II hadn't ended. The original Golden Age version of the team (which the new version contradicted) was said to be based on Earth-Q (for "Quality").
Since the Crisis on Infinite Earths, the Freedom Fighters have been based in the main DC Universe, and were part of the All-Star Squadron.
A modern version of the team has appeared as an auxillary of the new JSA. This team consisted of:
- Black Condor II
- Damage
- The Human Bomb
- Iron Munro
- The Patriot (modern version of Uncle Sam, later reverted to his former identity)
- Phantom Lady II
- The Ray II
