Frisco, North Carolina - Definition and Overview

Frisco, North Carolina is a small community on the barrier islands of Hatteras Island, in between the cities of Avon and Ocracoke. It was previously named Trent, or Trent Woods, but received a new name with the coming of the post office (Zip Code 27936) in 1898. Most of the land here is taken up by houses available for rental during the summer months and inhabited by more permanent owners during the winter.

General Billy Mitchell has an airfield here named after him, right across the street from Frisco Native American Museum (http://www.nativeamericanmuseum.org/).
