Fulwar Skipwith was a member of the first West Florida high judiciary, involved in the West Florida Rebellion.
Actions during the West Florida Rebellion
In December, 1814 Magloire Guichard and Fulwar Skipwith, who was the president of the Senate, sponsored a legislative resolution to grant amnesty to "the privateers lately resorting to Barataria, who might be deterred from offering their services for fear of persecution."
Actions following the West Florida Rebellion
In 1827, Skipwith, Armand Duplantier, Antoine Blanc, Thomas B. Robertson and Sebastien Hiriart received permission from the state legislature to organize a corporation entitled the Agricultural Society of Baton Rouge.
A street in Baton Rouge was named after Fulwar Skipwith.
