Furness is a peninsula in north-west England. The peninsula juts out into the Irish Sea and delineates the western edge of Morecambe Bay.
The area is historically a detached part of Lancashire bordering Cumberland to the north-west and Westmorland to the north-east. For local government purposes Furness has been wholly within the administrative county of Cumbria since 1974
