Gandhi is a 1982 film, an idealized dramatic depiction of the life of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. His story is told from his days in South Africa to his assassination on January 30, 1948. The film won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Ben Kingsley), and Best Director (Richard Attenborough).
