Gandhi Peace Award - Definition and Overview

The Gandhi Peace Award is an annual award, in honour of Mohandas Gandhi. The annual award has been issued since 1960, presented by the American-based organization Promoting Enduring Peace. The award consists of a certificate, a ceremony, and the presentation of a bronze medallion inscribed with a quote by Gandhi, "Love Ever Suffers/Never Revenges Itself." The award was first proposed by Jerome Davis, on March 13, 1959. The award is unrelated to the International Gandhi Peace Prize presented annually by the government of India.
