Gary Kleck is a criminologist at Florida State University who is a strong advocate against gun control.
He has done statistical analysis of crime in the United States and argues that while every year there are four hundred thousand crimes committed with guns, there are 2.5 million prevented by guns. Other studies have found widely differing numbers, however. A Department of Justice study found that only a hundred thousand crimes per year are prevented by guns.
