Geomagnetic storm - Definition and Overview

A geomagnetic storm is a storm in the magnetosphere. It is caused by the solar wind, which becomes more powerful when the Sun emits millions of tons of charged particles during a Coronal Mass Ejections (CME). These CMEs are generally, but not always associated with a solar flare on surface of the sun.
