George Washington Vanderbilt - Definition and Overview
George Washington Vanderbilt (1839-1864) was an American soldier and member of the prominent Vanderbilt family.
The youngest child of the family founders, Cornelius Vanderbilt and Sophia Johnson, George Vanderbilt went to West Point and fought American Civil War. At Shiloh, he contracted tubercolosis and died in 1864 at the age of 25.
