Georges Marchais - Definition and Overview

Georges Marchais (June 7 1920 - November 16 1997) was the head of the French Communist Party, and a candidate in the French presidential elections of 1981.

Georges Marchais was a notable personality because of his mannerisms and brusque demeanor, often lambasted by comic Thierry Le Luron. For instance, he is remembered for his outburst Taisez-vous Elkabbach ("Stop talking, Elkabbach!") to journalist Jean-Pierre Elkabbach.
