Gimel is a commune in Switzerland of the canton of Vaud, located in the district of Aubonne.
Gimel is also the third letter of the Hebrew alphabet and thus also represents the number three in gematria. Its script is a vav with a yud as a foot and resembles a person in motion, symbolically a rich man running after a dalet to give him charity. The word gimel is derived from gemul, which means the giving of reward and punishment.

Gimel is also an alternate spelling of gymel, which in music is a medieval English polyphonic technique of splitting up a single voice part, usually an upper one, into two equal parts while the other singers dropped out.
