Ginkaku-ji (銀閣寺) is a Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. The name means "Temple of the Silver Pavilion," and the builders intended to cover the main structure in silver, matching the Kinkaku at Kinkaku-ji. However, the plan was not carried out, and the building, intended to be a monument to ostentation, is taken as an example of Japanese refinement and restraint.

In addition to that building, the temple features wooded grounds covered with a variety of mosses, and a Japanese garden.
