In the anime series Gundam Seed Destiny, the Girty Lue was an Earth Alliance battleship assigned to Neo Lorrnoke's 81st Independent Mobile Battaltion, who reported under the code name "Phantom Pain". While the Girty Lue had some features clearly reminiscent of the Earth Alliance's earlier Archangel class assault ships, it bore no markings of any kind, so that if necessary the Earth Alliance could deny its existance. This was important, because in addition to its heavy armament and mobile suit compliment, the Girty Lue was equipped with a Mirage Colloid cloaking system, which was banned by the Treaty of Junius. The system was used launch a sneak attack on the ZAFT base Armory One, in which three prototype Gundam mobile suits were stolen and several ZAFT warships were destroyer or disabled. ZAFT's new battleship Minerva was launched in pursuit of the Girty Lue, but ultimately the Earth Alliance vessel escaped and delivered its stolen mobile suits to Earth.
