Glasgow Caledonian University - Definition

Glasgow Caledonian University in a University in Glasgow, Scotland.

Glasgow Caledonian began in 1875 as a small college with 110 students. Since then it has grown and diversified into one of the largest universities in Scotland with over 14,000 students as of 2001.

The University currently boasts a highly developed modern campus in the city centre of Glasgow. GCU is currently most well known for its Health and Business faculties, although several other departments are highly successful and attract many more students each year (Computing & Mathematical Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, etc are examples of this). Despite having problems establishing itself amongst the older universities in Glasgow, GCU could now be considered the prime example of what a 21st Century University should be like.
