Global Underground is a series of electronic dance music albums that focus on live performances which take place at high-profile venues such as Space (a dance club in Ibiza, Spain) and are mixed by high-profile DJs and producers such as John Digweed, Sasha, Nick Warren, Paul Oakenfold and Deep Dish, among others. The types of music represented by the DJs typically range from semi-independent progressive trance to semi-independent progressive dance. Thus, the name Global Underground gives reference to its removal from typical mainstream dance music, and the live sets which take place at high-profile locales in a variety of nations across the globe.
The series itself consists of albums mostly with two separate discs, which are remixed to represent the DJ's retrospective view on his set.
Global Underground is also the name of the UK based label which the series runs under, a label which houses mostly trance music artists such as Sander Kleinenberg, Sasha, and others.
