Gnesta is a Municipality in Södermanland County, in central Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 460.6 km². Of the total population of 9768, 4894 are male, and 4874 are female. The population density of the community is 21 inhabitants per km².
The local branch of Vänsterpartiet, a minority party in the Gnesta municipal assembly, has broken ties with the mother organization to form a party of their own, Vänsterdemokraterna.
