Gokstad Ship - Definition

The Gokstad was a Viking ship found in a King's burial mound in 1880 in an excavation led by Nicolay Nicolyasen. The ship can now be seen at the Oslo viking ship museum. The ship was probably built around the year 890, had room for 32 oars and could take 70-80 men. There are several replicas of the Gokstad ship including Sigrid StorrĂ¥da.
