The Gossamer Condor was a human-powered aircraft built by Dr Paul B MacCready. The aircraft won the first Kremer prize on August 23, 1977 by completing a figure '8' course. It was also the first human powered aircraft capable of more than short uncontrolled hops. HistoryThe Gossamer Condor was created by MacCready and Dr. Peter B. S. Lissaman, both of Pasadena, California, out of an idea that MacCready had first conceived in 1976. The Gossamer Albatross, which crossed the English Channel, was a later design, building on the success of the Condor. External links
