The term Government of India Act refers to several Acts passed by the British Parliament to regulate the government of British India, in particular:

• Government of India Act 1833 (also known as the Charter Act 1833), which created a Governor-General of India
• Government of India Act 1858, under which India became a formal Crown colony and the British government took over administrative functions from the British East India Company, following the Sepoy Mutiny in 1957
• Government of India Act 1919, which transferred leigislative power from the Governor-General of India to an Indian Legslature as a step towards self-government
• Government of India Act 1935, which proposed a federal structure for Indian government which, in the event, never came into operation, although it was adopted as the basic constitutional structure of India and Pakistan following Partition
