Green Line (Chicago Transit Authority) - Definition and Overview

The Green Line of the Chicago Transit Authority runs completely above ground. It starts out west of downtown Chicago, at the Harlem stop, and then moves east to the Loop. It rounds the northern and eastern edges of the Loop and then moves southward. After the Garfield stop, the line splits into two branches, one called the East 63rd Branch and the other the Ashland Branch.

The Green Line could be used to access the Illinois Institute of Technology or the University of Chicago, though the latter would require a bus transfer. The Clinton stop is useful for reaching Metra trains at the Ogilvie Transportation Center.
