Greenery day (みどりの日) is one of the holidays for Japanese citizens. It is April 29th. Until 1989, it was the birthday of the *Showa Emperor. But, in 1989, with the ascension of the current Emperor, the name "Birthday of the Emperor" was changed to Greenery Day. It is a day to commune with nature, and at the same time, be thankful for blessings, and to foster abundant spirit.
- The Showa Emperor reigned for 64 years. In 1947, he became a symbol of Japan by the constitution of Japan.
