Greenwich Peninsula - Definition

The Greenwich Peninsula, sometimes known as the Blackwall Peninsula is in the London Borough of Greenwich that the River Thames circumnavigates. The peninsula is home to the Millennium Dome and the southern end of the Blackwall Tunnel, but is largely vacant (most of it was once occupied by a vast gasworks). It is served by North Greenwich tube station.

In 2004 outline planning permission was granted for a large scale redevelopment of the site, including over ten thousand homes, several million square feet of office space and the converstion of the Millenium Dome into an indoor arena.
