Gregory Thaumaturgus - Definition and Overview

Gregory Thaumaturgus (c. 205 - 265 AD) was a native of Neo-Casearea (the capitol of Pontus). He was a pupil of Origen and studied (with his brother Athenodorus) grammar and rhetoric and then went to Alexandria in c. 218 to study Neo-Platonism. Later, he travelled to Athens. He is credited with writing a panegyric to Origen which may shed light on the origins of Roman law.
