HI Records was started by Ray Harris in 1957 and had some early success then. HI stands for Hit Instrumentals. The label returned in the sixties as a soul label around Willie Mitchell. In 1970 Willie Mitchell bought the label and had several hits with Al Green. Ultimately the label was sold to Cream Records.
Currently the catalogue of HI Records is owned by Demon Records.
