The Hakarimata range is visible in the background, with the Waikato River passing through Ngaruawahia in the foreground.

The Hakarimata range is a general term given to the hills and coastal ranges of the Waikato region of New Zealand, lying betwen the floodplain of the Waikato River and the Tasman Sea.

Parts of the range are protected in scenic reserves near the towns of Huntly and Ngaruawahia, and in the Pirongia Forest Park. There are several walkways through the range, allowing excellent views of the Waikato Plains below.
