Hard news brings us news, reviews and contest reports from the events that make history. Politics, war, economics and crime are considered as hard news. Unlike soft news, hard news can be pinpointed down to one actual event, like an action in war, an election, the breaking out of a fire, a kidnapping, a pivotal throw in the basketball finals, or a bomb threat.

News stories are basically divided into two types: hard news and soft news. Hard news generally refers to up-to-the-minute news and events that are reported immediately, while soft news is background information or human-interest stories -- more on the side of entertainment and personal lifestyles interest.
