Harrison County is a county located in the state of Texas. As of 2000, the population is 62,110. Harrison county is located in East Texas and is named for Jonas Harrison, a lawyer and Texas revolutionary. Its county seat is Marshall6.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,370 km² (915 mi²). 2,328 km² (899 mi²) of it is land and 42 km² (16 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.79% water.

There are 26,271 housing units at an average density of 11/km² (29/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 71.35% White, 24.03% Black or African American, 0.35% Native American, 0.31% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 2.86% from other races, and 1.06% from two or more races. 5.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 23,087 households out of which 34.40% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.00% are married couples living together, 13.60% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.60% are non-families. 23.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.70% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.62 and the average family size is 3.09.
