Harstad is a town and municipality in the county of Troms on the island of Hinnøya, Norway.

Trondenes Church a medieval church from the 13th15th century is situated just outside the town. Nearby there is the Trondenes Historical Center and the Adolf Gun, an enormous gun from World War II.

In 2004, the town celebrated its 100th year anniversary. The town hosts the annual "The Festival of North Norway" a week in length.

The nascent oil industry of Northern Norway is centred in Harstad, and shipyards and other industries are also important.

The local newspaper is the Harstad Tidende.
