Hayman fire - Definition

The Hayman fire was a forest fire southwest of Denver, Colorado that started on June 8, 2002.

Hundreds of forestry officials and firefighters risked their lives to fight the fast-moving inferno, which caused nearly $7 million in damage, burned 25 homes and forced the evacuation of 5,340 persons. The blaze, initially labelled a wildfire, was accidentally ignited by a federal forester who lit a campfire while on duty enforcing a ban on campfires.
