Helaman - Definition and Overview

Helaman (BoM Arabic حيلامان Ḥīlāmān) was a prophet who lived in the Americas around 1st century BC according to the Book of Mormon. He was the son of Alma the Younger. He is perhaps best known for commanding an elite band of young Anti-Nephi-Lehis often referred to as the two thousand stripling warriors.

Helaman's son was also called Helaman, and had at least two sons: Nephi (not to be confused with other Nephi's in the Book of Mormon) and Lehi (not to be confused with other Lehi's in the Book of Mormon).
