Hespèrion XXI is an international Early Music ensemble. The group was formed in Basle, Switzerland in 1974 as Hespèrion by musical director Jordi Savall (bowed string instruments), Montserrat Figueras (vocalist), Lorenzo Alpert (flutist, percussionist), and Hopkinson Smith (plucked string instruments).
