Hesperus - Definition and Overview

Henry Longfellow wrote an epic poem called The Wreck of the Hesperus. There is a large family of bats called Vesper bats in the family Vespertilionidae.

In Greek mythology, Hesperos (also Hesperus or Eosphorus) was a son of either Eos or Atlas. His Roman equivalent was Vesper.

He is the personification of the evening star, the planet Venus.

He was the father of Ceyx and Daedalion.
