Hexley is the mascot of the open source operating system, DarwinOS, which is the core of Mac OS X. Hexley is a cartoon platypus that usually wears a cap which resembles a daemon's horns and carries a pitchfork. Hexley was designed and copyrighted by Jon Hooper. Hexley is not affilated with Apple Computer. The name was supposed to be "Huxley" which was named after an English biologist that defended Charles Darwin's theory of Evolution, Thomas Henry Huxley. However due to confusion, the name Hexley stayed.
