Highway 405 as part of the 400-series network
Highway 405 is a short 400-Series Highway in Ontario, Canada that connects the Queen Elizabeth Way to the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge in the village of Queenston. This route provides a connection to Interstate 190 outside of Niagara Falls, New York.
In November, 2004, exit ramps to the Niagara Parkway were removed to allow room for a a new truck staging carriageway, with dedicated ramps to the Queenston-Lewiston Bridge, and eventual customs pre-clearance areas. Traffic exiting to the Niagara Parkway is now directed to exit at Stanley Avenue, where trailblazers lead to the parkway. Highway 405 was also added to the COMPASS network of highway monitoring.
This 8.5 km stretch of highway opened to the public in 1963.
