Hitachiomiya, Ibaraki - Definition

Hitachiomiya (常陸大宮市 -shi) is a city located in north-west of Ibaraki, Japan.

As of 2003, the town has an estimated population of 48,108 and a density of 100.74 persons per km². The total area is 348.38 km&sup2. The city was founded on October 16, 2004 when the town of Yamagata and the village of Gozenyama , Miwa and Ogawa incorporated into form one new city.
