A holarchy is a hierarchy of holons. Holarchy as a word was coined by Arthur Koestler.

The universe as a whole is an example of a holarchy, or holarchical system, and every other holarchy we are aware of is a part of this larger holarchy. Here is a holarchy that includes the human being: subatomic particles/energy fields - atoms - molecules - cells - tissue - organs (emotions/cognition) - body (mind) - social group - society - bioregion - earth - solar system - milky way - universe...
