Honda Ballade - Definition

The Honda Ballade is a compact automobile built by Honda of Japan. It began as a four-door version on the Civic platform in 1980 and was badge-engineered in the UK as the Triumph Acclaim.

Of the original 1980 models, both 1·3 and 1·5 L versions were offered in Japan.

After 1984, the Ballade shared most of its body panels with the Civic, except for a sportier front end, and formed the basis of the CR-X sports car and the original Rover 200.

Ballades ceased to be offered in Japan after September 1987, replaced by the Honda Concerto.

However, the Ballade name continued to be used for a Civic-based model in South Africa, where it was used instead of Civic on locally produced versions, until 2000.
