Hopkin green frog - Definition and Overview

An internet phenomenon, among many, this one begun by the finding of a small flyer penned, apparently, by a child. In response to the childlike phrasing and amusing wording of the original flyer, countless Photoshopped clones were created. The original flyer, and its many clones, are archived at http://lostfrog.org.

The text of the flyer reads, roughly: "If I looking for frog/him name is Hopkin green frog/I lost my frog/PS, I'll find my frog/who took my frog" A phone number on the flyer has been edited in most internet versions to be incomplete, though originally it had the proper seven digits.

The actual origins of the flyer were researched by an independent blogger, who lends some light onto the subject of Hopkin on his own blog. The article is located at: http://mike.whybark.com/archives/001951.html. According to Mike's research, Hopkin Green Frog was never a real frog, but was a small stuffed toy. Hopkins the frog, as he was properly named, was offered in McDonalds Happy Meals in December 2001 as part of an assortment of eight different animals to promote Toys 'R' Us' stuffed toy line, Animal Alley. Reportedly, the young man who penned the flyer suffered from autism. He has a new frog.

The original story of the discovery of the Hopkin Green Frog flyer can be found at http://www.livejournal.com/users/citizenkafka/57348.html.
