The Hopman Cup is a annual tennis tournament held in Perth Western Australia between in late December and/or early January each year.

- is named after Harry Hopman (1906-1985), an Australian tennis player and coach including the Davis Cup team;
- has been attended each year by Mrs Lucy Hopman, wife of Harry Hopman, who travels from the U.S.A.;
- is for mixed teams from 8 nations, consisting of one female and one male player, who play;
- male and female singles matches;
- a mixed doubles match;
- is decided on points between two groups of teams, with a final;
- is counted for world Tennis rankings;
- uses an indoor, hardcourt venue - the Burswood Dome at Burswood Casino;
- was inaugurated in 1988-1989;
- is a sanctioned event in the calendar of the International Tennis Federation (ITF);
- is ranked in tennis circles alongside the Davis Cup for men and the Fed Cup for women;
- is considered by players to be a lead-up to the Australian Open;

Prize
The winning team receives a silver cup perpetual trophy. Team members are presented with distinctive trophies in the shape of a tennis ball encrusted with diamonds from Argyle Diamonds in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.
