Hoyerswerda (http://www.hoyerswerda.de/) (SorbianWojerecy; population 50,203) is a town in the GermanBundesland of Saxony. It is located in Lusatia, a region where many people speak Sorbian in addition to German. It received municipal rights in 1371. In 1991 a xenophobic attack took place on a hostel containing refugees. The attack reulted in the removal of the refugees, an outcome the perpertrators undoubtledly aimed for.
