Hypodermis Hypodermis

Hypodermis - Definition and Overview

The hypodermis is the lowermost layer of the integumentary system, which is present only in more recently-evolved vertebrates. It is derived from the mesoderm germ layer, but unlike the dermis, it is not derived from the dermatome region of the mesoderm.

The hypodermis is used mainly for fat storage
