Hypomagnesemia is an electrolyte disturbance in which there is an abnormally depleted level of magnesium in the blood. It is commonly seen in alcoholism. Other causes of hypomagnesemia are

  • excessive diuretic use.
  • Renal loss
  • malabsorption
  • milk diet in infants
  • acute pancreatitis
