The 5 mile long Interstate 395 in Maine travels east from United States Highway 2 in Bangor, Maine to a junction with U.S. Highway 1A.

Connecticut and Massachusetts

The 67 mile long north-south Interstate 395 in Connecticut and Massachusetts begins at the Interstate 95 near Waterford, Connecticut and ends at Interstate 90 in Auburn, Massachusetts.

Maryland

The 2 mile long Interstate 395 in Maryland is a spur of Interstate 95 that travels from Interstate 95 to downtown Baltimore. It ends near Oriole Park at Camden Yards, and is the shortest three-digit Interstate in the country.

Virginia-Washington, D.C.

The 13 mile long Interstate 395 (Virginia) is a spur route that begins at a junction with Interstate 95 in Springfield, Virginia and ends in downtown Washington, District of Columbia. It passes underneath the National Mall near the United States Capitol. The portion in Virginia is also referred to as the Henry G. Shirley Memorial Highway.

The jumble of highways in Virginia where I-395, I-95, and the Capital Beltway meet is officially called the "Springfield Interchange" but is colloquially referred to as the "Mixing Bowl."

Original plans called for I-395 to cut straight through Washington, DC and connect with I-95 again in Maryland. Neighborhood opposition halted this plan, diverting planned funding to construction of the Washington Metro. I-395 now ends in D.C. at New York Avenue, roughly a mile north of the Capitol.
