The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) is a non-profit, apolitical, international organization which uses science and technology to aid agriculture in semi-arid tropical areas, mainly in developing countries.
It is one of the 17 Future Harvest Centers of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).
It has a staff of about 900 and an annual budget of USD $22 million.
Its headquarters are located in Patancheru, near Hyderabad, India. It also has seven bases in African countries, including Nigeria, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe.
