ILFC - Definition and Overview

ILFC (International Lease Finance Corporation, though the abbreviation is the more common usage) has headquarters in Los Angeles, California, USA. It is the world's largest aircraft lessor. It leases Boeing and Airbus aircraft to airlines from all the world, including: Air France, KLM, Lufthansa, American Airlines, Continental Airlines and Emirates.

ILFC is owned by U.S. insurance giant AIG. It is run by Steven F. Udvar-Hazy. ILFC's primary competitor is GECAS, a unit of the enormous conglomerate General Electric.
