Interim Standard 95 (IS-95), is the first CDMA-based digital cellular standard pioneered by Qualcomm. The brand name for IS-95 is cdmaOne. IS-95 is also known as TIA-EIA-95.

It is now being supplanted by IS-2000. It is used in the US and in Korea.

CDMA vs. TDMA

The CDMA technology used in IS-95 is in technical competition with the TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) technology used in GSM.
