Ifrit Ifrit

Ifrit - Definition and Overview

Ifrit, also spelled efreet, also ifreet, afrit (Arabic: Afreet:عفريت, pl, Afareet: عفاريت), are a kind of Jinn from Arabic mythology. Supposedly the Jinn are broken in to five classes, each more powerful than the last. These classes are jinn, jann, ifrit, maryut, and shaitan. This typology, though widely used in fantasy fiction and role playing games appears to be of European origin and has no real basis in Arabic lore.

Ifrit in Square-Enix projects

In some console role playing games by Square Enix, a Japanese video game producer, Ifrit is a demon of fire{human or beast-like}, often summoned by a summoner (or "caller") to aid the characters in battle. His attacks include 'Meteor Strrke' & 'HellFire'
